Oklahoma, Tulsa – Jacob Washburn
It seems like Jacob Washburn was born with a fascination with drums and percussion. At age 8, his father took him to a pawn shop to look at student guitars but Washburn had other plans. There was a drum kit set up and - having never held a pair of drumsticks before - he picked them up and was hooked from his first beat. Never taking formal lessons, Washburn learned how to play drums by listening to his favorite CD's and watching music videos. Jacob likes to say that his drum instructors were Jon Bonham, Dave Grohl, and Neil Peart.
Washburn's first live performance - outside of his regular church-gig - he knew that there was nothing else he would rather do. Spreading love and joy through his music has always been Washburn's primary goal and upon watching him play, one can notice that message in every stroke. He works hard for all that he achieves and credits his family for his success due to their continued love and support. Washburn has always been patient in his musical ventures. "I understand that nothing happens overnight" he says and takes full advantage of any off-time to sharpen the skills that lend to his "in the pocket" style of playing.
To date, Washburn has earned a level 1 endorsement with Risen Drums and aside from proudly displaying his sparkling, custom kit on stages across the country, Washburn can regularly be seen in Risen apparel. Washburn is currently putting his endorsement to good use, joining the band of Tulsa area, award-winning pop singer Chase Stites (touring with the band spring through fall of 2012) and being featured in a music video with Christian band New Method. Washburn uses his time and reach to spread the word about Risen Drums and hopes to do the same for Dream Cymbals.
Washburn is seeking the endorsement of Dream Cymbals before the beginning of his upcoming tour and would appreciate the honor and privilege of spreading the word about Dream Cymbals all over the country.
